The Art City Pilot Exhibitions
In July 2014, we launched the first of a series of pilot installations that transform public spaces into contemporary art exhibitions and create new ways for people to engage with their communities.
Our pilot projects reach anywhere from tens of thousands to 1M+ people. These exhibitions, along with accompanying events and ongoing public programming, help build the community needed to achieve public art at civic scale.
The Art City Project Pilot No. 1
We're proud to announce the launch of our first pilot project in July 2014. Way Out West is a celebration of the idea of California and its history as fertile ground for dreamers, pioneers, and counterculture. The exhibition reflects on the changing social landscape of the West Coast and explores the role of contemporary art in public spaces. Learn more and join us for the exhibition on July 17th, 2014.
Art at Civic Scale
As our community and capabilities grow, so will the scale, reach and impact of our exhibitions and programs.
The original seed that grew into the Art City Project was a question: what happens when you turn a city into a gallery? We’re also exploring new delivery mechanisms and channels: buildings, sidewalks, storefronts, and empty lots are just a few of the possibilities.
We need your help to make it happen.
